Elena Balakhnova – Design Manager
After graduating in Literature and Art from the University of Moscow in 2002, Elena spent five years working as a designer in Moscow. Her experience there included working for BBDO and DDB, as well as leading the art direction for several productions. As senior designer for Detekt, Elena works on a wide variety of projects for all major international markets. Keeping abreast of new design trends for the international markets is a key part of the job, allowing the team to bring contemporary ideas to product design.
It was Elena’s passion for Chinese culture that originally brought her to Shenzhen. As an avid fan of Chinese painting, calligraphy and music, Elena enjoys immersing herself in the local culture, visiting art galleries and following the Chinese music scene. She is also a keen photographer, and has recorded memories of Shenzhen life, particularly in the old parts of the city, which are disappearing with the rapid advance of progress.
